About West Sac Chat

I am in love with where I live. Seriously. My city is only a few miles from the State Capitol of  love-it-or-hate-it  California, a  quick drive over the Sacramento River, but worlds away.

West Sacramento is a city that’s been much maligned over the years — certainly, it has its problems. But there’s so much to adore about living here.

That’s why I started this blog. Think of it as a gratitude journal about life in West Sacramento.

I’m not a native of this city; in fact, locals consider me a “newbie” because I’ve only lived here about 20 years. It’s a place where people are raised and stay until they pass on. And that adds a huge amount of depth to this community. We also have a lot of new residents due to recent residential growth spurts. And that brings fresh ideas to add spark. So I am somewhere in between these groups and I think I can offer a good perspective on living here as well.

By trade,  I am a writer and editor who worked in downtown Sacramento for many years. Now, due to the economy, I am the principal of a freelance writing and editing business from my West Sac home. I’m also the mother of a college student, a runner, hiker, and snow skier. I read books avidly and love dogs.

I look forward to sharing my love of West Sac with you.
